Thankful to Share the Impact

Updated: Dec 23, 2021

As we take this time to reflect on our lives and give thanks for all the blessings we have, I am particularly appreciative for the opportunity I’ve had to live a life of transformation and impact and be able share my story Lost Girl with so many.

Over the past month or so, as I launched the book and received feedback about my story, my feelings of gratitude have “leveled-up.” I was simply overwhelmed by the support that I received from everyone who came to celebrate at the book launch event with me in Round Rock. When I traveled to my hometown of El Paso, I had the opportunity to speak to and connect with so many new people and I was truly touched by how many have told me that Lost Girl has motivated them in their own lives. And as the book starts to attract media attention and be featured in places like Latina Style Magazine, I am still awed by all the positive reviews from readers across the country.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to use my story to encourage those who may be struggling, celebrate with those who have overcome adversity, and learn how I can help empower those who feel lost or hopeless or just are ready to go to the next level in achievement of the American dream. Recounting so many of my life traumas and blunders for mass publication was not an easy endeavor; as a matter of fact, over the months of writing my story, I felt deep new levels of healing taking place inside my soul. Although difficult to write, in the end Lost Girl is foremost a story about faith, grit, hope, and transformation. I am thankful that I can use my challenging journey and accomplishments to inspire others.

I’m also grateful to friends, family, and mentors who have given me so much support in the past year. By publishing my book, I am in essence embarking on a new chapter in my life. I’m excited to see where this leads and I am thankful to have so many wonderful people in my life to join me as I continue this path.

As Lost Girl illustrates, there were many obstacles along the way to my eventual success – many of them formed a wall from the very beginning. But gratitude was an important virtue in finding my way. Gratitude, I believe, should be seen as a mindset – potentially a transformative mindset, capable of empowering us to embrace the good in our lives and shine a light on the opportunities all around us. Every day we are surrounded by gifts and blessings, even in our darkest moments. Gratitude is the ability to change our focus and see the people, the beauty, and the moments of joy that enrich our lives – and take the time to appreciate and even celebrate them.

On that note, thank you to each one of you for connecting with me and being a part of my life. I am blessed beyond measure!

Lastly a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving as you celebrate and reflect, for all we have and are thankful for this holiday season! Let us also never forget those in need and do our part to give a kind word, support a family or person in need and ensure we “see” those around us who have endured loss or tragedy. Who knows, maybe one day that individual you invested your time, treasure, and talent into might just be someone like me.
