Girls of Legacy Family Relief Fund – Jamaica Hurricane Recovery

Alaiysha has been part of our LaunchPad family since the launch of our signature Girls of Legacy scholarship and mentorship program. She joined our very first class in 2022 and embodies everything this initiative was built to do — to break barriers, open doors, and create ripple effects of change across generations.

Just last year, her family traveled from Jamaica to the United States for the very first time to celebrate her Texas A&M Ring Ceremony — a moment filled with pride, joy, and gratitude. It marked her as the first in her family to attend college and a symbol of what hard work and opportunity can make possible.

Now, that same family is facing unimaginable loss.

Lisa Copeland, long time Girls of Legacy supporter and donor recently interviewed Rebecca and Alaiysha to talk about the hurricane relief efforts.

A devastating hurricane swept through Jamaica, leaving a trail of destruction across the island. Her mother, stepfather, and four-year-old brother’s home in Kingston is severely damaged, while her grandmother’s home in Manchester — the area directly hit by the eye of the storm — is completely gone. In addition, multiple other family members, including her aunt and uncle, lost their homes as well. Entire neighborhoods in Manchester have been left in ruins.

To stand beside them in this moment, LaunchPad has created the Girls of Legacy Family Relief Fund, dedicated to helping Alaiysha’s mother, stepfather, little brother, grandmother, and extended family rebuild and recover.

100% of donations go directly to the family — covering immediate essentials like food, clothing, and materials to begin rebuilding what was destroyed. No middleman. No fees. Just impact.

Your support will help this family move from devastation toward restoration — and remind Alaiysha and her loved ones that the community that believed in her still stands with them today.

💚 Give today to help the Alaiysha's Family rebuild and recover.
