Milestones in Self-Empowerment

RC Blog January 2024

Happy New Year to you all!

Many of you may not know this, but I’m a New Year’s baby, born on January 1st. And this year is a milestone birthday for me, as I have just turned 55! I now find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that has brought me to this point. It's a journey marked by triumphs, challenges, and above all, self-discovery. Today, in keeping with the theme of milestones, I want to share with you three milestones that have defined my path and shaped the woman I am today:

1-      Owning My Power

One of the most profound realizations in my life has been the unwavering understanding of my own power. It's more than just confidence; it's an unshakable certainty in who I am and the purpose I serve. This journey took over three decades but most recently, in the last few years, it has accelerated. Three decades of self-reflection, growth, and the occasional stumble. Today, I stand tall, confident in my own skin, unafraid to push back when confronted by bullies, and acutely aware of my strength, power, and most importantly true identity.

To own my power means understanding my role in this intricate dance of life. It's about recognizing the influence I hold and approaching it with a delicate balance of awe, grace, and confidence – yet in humility. As I often remind myself and others, "To whom much is given, much is required." Every ounce of power and influence comes with a responsibility to use it wisely and for the greater good.

2-      Loving Myself and My Purpose

Loving oneself is a lifelong journey, not a destination. It took time for me to learn that true self-love is not selfish but rather the foundation for meaningful service to others. As someone whose DNA is woven with a passion for serving others, I've come to understand that this passion should never come at the expense of neglecting oneself.

At this point in my life, I have developed a profound appreciation for putting myself first. It's about recognizing that by nurturing my well-being, I am better equipped to serve those around me. It's not a betrayal of my values but a reinforcement of them. My purpose on this earth is clearer than ever, and my love for what I do is a driving force that propels me forward.

3-      Seeing Life Through a Lens of Grace and Forgiveness

Our life journey is crafted with the help of grace and forgiveness. Regardless of the circumstances, approaching life with an unwavering commitment to grace and forgiveness has been a guiding principle for me. It's easy to extend these virtues when everything feels right, but true strength lies in embracing them even when faced with adversity.

Forgiveness, I've learned, is a catalyst for positive change. It's a release of the burdens that weigh us down, allowing us to move forward unencumbered. Letting go of past hurts and forgiveness of others, even if they don’t acknowledge or own that hurt is central to living my best life. And embracing Grace is a method that opens hearts and minds; it’s a bridge to understanding.

As I turn 55, I will carry these lessons with me and deeply appreciate their significance. After all, these milestones are not just personal victories; they are gifts that I share with those I love and cherish. And I look forward to the new milestones awaiting me on my journey.

Happy 2024 to you and those you love. May your year be filled with opportunities to embrace the power within, foster self-love, and value the virtues of grace and forgiveness.
