On June 20th, the annual Girls of Legacy fundraising event was held at the Headliners Club in Austin, Texas, celebrating the program’s third year and all the contributors who have made it possible. With 120 attendees demonstrating their support, the event had an incredible turnout, and everyone witnessed the impact of the scholarship and mentorship program on the lives of these 12 girls. This year, the Girls of Legacy added six new program participants. They have been paired with local women business leaders as mentors and will receive partial scholarships in the fall as they embark on their higher education goals. Deb Arnold, Mrs. Texas America, inspired the crowd with her take on overcoming all odds in pursuing your goals. Rebecca’s mentor, Clay Johnson, spoke on the empowering qualities of mentorship.

A Message from Rebecca Contreras
I would like to personally thank each of the GoL event’s attendees for taking the time to meet and celebrate our Girls (and their families), and I would like to extend an exceptional warm thank you to our sponsors and silent auction donors who contributed to the fundraising.
David and I want each of you who invested in the girls to please know our team will be praying for you, the return of your gift 100-fold, and blessings upon your family, businesses, and homes. In my growth and journey, I have found that you can never outgive when it comes to giving efforts to those less fortunate, especially our girls and their education. Hopefully, after meeting them, you saw firsthand that they are our high-potential future Texas women inventors, leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, educators, and all-around intelligent girls!
Our fundraising goal was $25k. We were able to raise a total of $50K in scholarships for the 12 girls (including the match of $25K that was raised). I will continue pursuing this GOL match dollar for dollar. Remember, no amount is too small; every dollar matters and goes 100% to the girls!
