What happens when a former White House official, bestselling author, and CEO walks into a Sunday service, not to talk business but to testify? The room shifts. On Sunday, September 20, Rebecca Contreras and her husband David Contreras stood before the congregation at Austin Powerhouse Church and shared the story of a Lost Girl who found her way from poverty to the White House, and the faith that carried her every step. By the end of the day, the church had heard a testimony of God's grace, lessons in leadership, and three spiritual keys for walking in purpose.

The invitation came from longtime friends Bishop Paul Ojeda and Pastor Lilian Ojeda, and the day began before the service. Rebecca and David first sat down with the church's leadership team and shared a few lessons from their own leadership journey: what it takes to lead well, stay grounded, and build something that lasts.

Then they joined the congregation for Sunday service. Rebecca shared her Lost Girl story: growing up in poverty, facing circumstances that could have written a very different ending, and finding her way to the White House and beyond, by God's grace.

That's where the power of alignment showed up. When a husband and wife each walk in their own strengths and talents toward one common goal, the result is impact. David followed Rebecca with three spiritual keys and principles that have been central to their life and marriage. It was a rare and special occasion, because the two don't often share a stage.

With a congregation that was majority Latino, and the service falling during the opening week of Hispanic Heritage Month, the connection in the room was immediate. As Rebecca put it, the day reminded her why they live their lives to shout His fame. They share what God has done in and through them, and they give others tools to walk in purpose, overcome adversity, lead well, and live their best lives.

How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! (Psalm 133:1, NLT)

The day closed the way the best ministry days often do: around a table. Rebecca and David ended the evening over a one-on-one dinner with Bishop Paul and Pastor Lilian, celebrating a friendship built on a shared heart for community and for seeing people transformed through the power of Jesus.

A heartfelt thank you to Bishop Paul and Pastor Lilian Ojeda and the entire Austin Powerhouse Church ministry team. You made us feel like family. All glory to God.

God is in this story.
